About

Sara enjoys a good stroll down "Memory Lane".  Growing up in the 70's and 80's most of her

free time was spent in front of the tv with a sketchpad on her lap, drawing thousands upon

thousands of sartorial designs. Fashion was in her blood. Her family owned and operated

department stores called the Fell Company in the Chicago suburbs, dating back to 1913, and her

childhood was spent in those stores, surrounded by suits, fabrics, and tailor’s chalk. She’d clean

the windows in the women's department. She’d play hide-and-seek in the tailor shop. She’d read

everything she could get her hands on from line sheets and catalogs to Sassy, Glamour and

WWD. Later, after earning a BFA in Fine Art from University of Wisconsin, she approached a

fork in the road: pursue a career as a visual artist or stick to the business of fashion? Sara went

down the “safer” path and became a sales representative for multiple designers in Chicago,

Los Angeles, and New York, eventually starting her own handmade, lifestyle brand called Grass

& Clovers. Many years later, after the birth of her second daughter, she decided to take a break

from the Garment District and create her own art, full time. This focus led to her current

endeavor, as she often found herself being asked to assist not only fashion designer friends, but also set and costume designers,

and other friends in the film industry with their professional research needs, using the knowledge she’s gleaned

over a lifetime of varied experiences and passions including history, photography, art, interiors, film

Real People

My entire life has been about fashion- not only high fashion- simply CLOTHES.  As an artist I understand what designers need for inspiration. The first stop for most creatives is research. It’s a joy to stroll down memory lane and fine images for other artists to gain inspiration, ideas and details for their own work. I know the ins and outs of clothing and have a massive library or real people images throughout the 20th century to present. Anything I don't currently have in my own library, I can find. Research is my life!

Real Places

In order to make any production look real, you need to have a tremendous amount of reference images. I have a treasure trove of images of real homes, stores, locations and more.  Throughout my life, I have spent countless hours collecting books, images and photographs. I love losing myself in other times and places.

Real Things

Sundays as a child were spent antiquing with my mother.  Not the typical thing a kid would like to do on their Sunday afternoons, but for me it was the absolute best. Digging into old furniture, magazines, items from the past was such a beautiful escape.  I am passionate about helping designers create their vision.
